Catfish Keith Comes To Laxey
An American blues star is heading to the Isle of Man tonight!
Catfish Keith, who has been described as a ‘guitar genius,’ will be performing at the Institute in Laxey on Sunday, October 14.
Catfish is a world-touring acoustic blues pioneer who has established himself as one of the most exciting country blues performers of our time. His innovative style of foot-stomping, deep delta blues and American roots music has spellbound audiences the world over.
A three-time Blues Music Award nominee for Best Acoustic Blues Album, both Catfish’s Honey Hole and Mississippi River Blues albums were considered for Grammy Award nominations in three categories.
Catfish has 17 number one independent radio chart-topping albums to his credit and packs houses all over the world with his dynamic stage show.
A 2008 inductee into the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame, the 40-year veteran has performed thousands of gigs, touring the USA, UK and Europe dozens of times to wide acclaim, headlining major music festivals and appearing with legends John Lee Hooker, Ray Charles, Robert Cray, Koko Taylor, Taj Mahal, Leo Kottke, Jessie Mae Hemphill, Johnny Shines and many, many others.
Living Blues magazine described him as a ‘Guitar Genius’ while Acoustic Guitar magazine said he was ‘one of the most exciting guitarists of any genre’.
Catfish is being brought to the Island by Douglas-based music promotion business Blue John Media, which is run by musician, concert promoter and guitar tutor John Gregory.
John, who is known in the island’s music scene and further afield as Blue John, is the support act on the night. Catfish will also be giving a guitar workshop on the day of the show at John’s home in Douglas.
